Getting Creative with Sheet Metal
May 21, 2013Hood Cleaning Can Prevent Grease Fires
June 5, 2013People with mold allergies may exhibit symptoms that include allergic reactions, asthma, and other respiratory issues. Mold can grow in air ducts if moisture is allowed to settle. When the heating or cooling system is turned on, the blasts of air can loosen the mold. The EPA suggests air duct cleaning of any visible signs of mold growth of the ducts or other components, but mold is often not in areas visible to the eye. Cooling and heating systems can also serve as a breeding ground for mold, due to standing water near air intakes and humidification systems.
These issues make air duct cleaning a health priority if someone in the house has an allergy. A qualified expert should conduct a thorough cleaning of the mold ductwork in the HVAC. After this initial cleaning, air ducts should be inspected for mold and other contaminants on a yearly basis. Control the growth of mold in air ducts by eliminating moisture and performing cleanings of mold and spores. Check that your home’s humidity levels are consistently above 50% to ensure mold never enters your air ducts.
